22 MOUNTAINS OF EDEN

Some 20 million years ago in East Africa, the earth's crust weakened and tore itself apart creating a jagged rift. A chain of magnificent volcanoes arose with most famous of all, the Kilimanjaro. In a two part television series we focus on this part of the Rift Valley in East Africa where we will reflect on the extraordinary, beautiful and inspiring nature and geology of this part of the world..

Part 1 Elephants of Kilimanjaro. Elephants once roamed freely up and down Kilimanjaro. They are not designed to climb these steep slopes, so why would they ascend so far up? The forest elephants are beginning to reveal some of their secrets. These mighty beasts will lead us on a journey of exploration, adventure and revelation as we follow their footsteps up the Mountains of Eden.

Part 2 The Monkey Hunters. Lions rarely hunt baboons. These large monkeys are armed with dangerous teeth, they are hard to catch and usually not worth the risk or effort. But there is one place in Africa’s Great Rift Valley where baboons are plentiful and lions have learned to catch them.
